About the Item

Kasîta is a painting created by Ukrainian artist Okno (Valeriya Shebelnichenko) in 2023.  Oil color on canvas personally constructed by the artist. Signed by hand. Excellent condition. Kasîta is part of a series of paintings in which the artist focused on the theme of depression. The colors of the body are nicely accentuated by the sharp dark of the background, which looks like an undefined space. A series of full-bodied, dense and textural Naples yellow brushstrokes go to cut through the darkness. The artist chooses thus to represent a moment when in the gloom of the depressive state of mind a light appears - a possible change.   The figure is still in a closed position, both in the arrangement of the legs and that of the hands. The figure covers her eyes, not noticing the light filtering through and enveloping her in this space. The different works in this series are sequential, tracing different stages of depression, including healing. Kasîta in this context is an improving, intermediate stage. The series of which this work is a part arrived finalist in the contemporary art competition "Arte Laguna Prize" . Of the five works, two final ones ("Var" and "Lumo") were then selected for exhibition at the North Arsenal in Venice. Valeriya Shebelnichenko, aka Okno, was born in Ukraine in 1996. Painter and performer, she currently lives and works in the city of Turin, Italy. She moved to Italy in 2004 and studied at the Art and Music High School in Forlì, obtaining her diploma in 2016. With her emotional approach to painting and performance, she manages to involve the viewers by making them part of her experiences. Okno’s works have been shown in the cities of Venice, Milan, Turin, Pisa, Rimini, Forlí, Edinburgh, she arrived as a finalist in the Arte Laguna Prize and exhibited in the spaces of the Venetian North Arsenale. Her career, albeit young, denotes various collaborations, aimed at creating an artistic dialogue that involves multiple senses.

Serenity of Essence, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
Located in Zofingen, AG
In my latest work from the 'Thoughts' series, titled 'Serenity of Essence', I once again delve into the profound world of feminine reflections. On this 60x80 cm canvas, painted with acrylics, I depicted a seated young woman with a cat resting beside her. This image creates an atmosphere of tranquility and deep contemplation, characteristic of my series. The background of the painting reveals a view of hills and trees, the leaves of which are adorned with ornaments, adding sophistication to the composition. The symbol of infinity on the woman's shoulder is not just decorative; it symbolizes the endlessness of existence and unity with nature. The flowers and grasses in the meadow are depicted symbolically and graphically, creating a visual rhythm that engages and leads the viewer through various levels of perception. 'Serenity of Essence' is not just a painting; it is my perspective on feminine self-discovery and inner harmony. This canvas is an invitation for viewers to feel at one with nature, find peace in their thoughts, and discover the deep symbols of feminine existence. In this work, I once again demonstrate my vision and ability to transform philosophical themes into visual metaphors that resonate with the soul ABOUT ARTIST: Tetiana Pchelnykova...

Eva's Legacy, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
Located in Zofingen, AG
This painting is an attempt to blend ancient symbols, contemporary understanding of feminine essence, and profound philosophical contemplations inspired by existentialism and phenomenology. The woman, represented in the image of Eve, stands as an eternal symbol of the beginning of life and the mother of all humanity. Symbols on her body, derived from the idols of the Trypillian culture, speak to the age-old connection of our people with nature, land, and spirituality. The Tree of Life with its apples embodies the immortal bond with lineage and ancestors, as well as a reflection on existence, self-awareness in the world, and relations with others. Existentialist and phenomenological philosophies emphasize individual experience and perception of the world, which are perfectly captured in this painting. Each apple represents a memory passed down from generation to generation, a reminder of roots that deeply reach into the history of our people, and contemplations about our place in the universe.
