William H. Kinnicutt was an American artist known for his modern cityscape paintings. He began his studies at the Cleveland School of Art and later pursued both art and medicine in New York. In the early 1910s, Kinnicutt joined the Cleveland Society of Artists and primarily exhibited in the Cleveland area, including at the annual "May Show" at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Kinnicutt's work is associated with Ohio proto-regionalism, a period preceding the American Scene and regionalist movements of the 1930s. His paintings reflected the urban environment of his time.
