Xenia Ostrovskaya, born in 1989 in Saint Petersburg, is a visual artist who specializes in ceramics and porcelain painting. She studied at the Saint Petersburg State University. In 2015, she continued her academic journey at the University of Applied Arts, where she studied graphic design and printmaking under the guidance of Professor Jan Svenungsson.
In her artistic work, Ostrovskaya explores themes of communication, interaction, and the engagement with the past. Her analog collages are created on old postcards and cityscapes, reflecting a connection between tradition and the present.

In her body of work Ostrovskaya explores ideas of heritage and belonging, juxtaposing the manmade world and its memorabilia with vivid depictions of flora and fauna. The nostalgia of her postcards is transformed into a foil for her magic realism. Analytical precision meets the poetic whole through her extraordinary skill with detail, imbuing her pictures with both liveliness and a touch of the uncanny.
Ostrovskaya is also active as a sculptor, delving into the possibilities of porcelain in pursuing her interest of depictions of nature.
