Xenia Ostrovskaya, born in 1989, is a visual artist from Saint Petersburg. She studied ceramics and porcelain painting at Saint Petersburg State University. This was followed in 2015 by studies at the University of Applied Arts, in the class for graphics and printmaking under the direction of Professor Jan Svenungsson.
Ostrovskaya's artistic work relates to communication and interaction as well as the examination of the past. As can also be seen in this work "Waiting room", the artist adds a painting and combines it with the existing. The analogue collages are created on old postcards with cityscapes or old representations of premises. In this artwork we can see the room with the old furniture and the woman from the past is reused and used in a new context. Ostrovskaya uses the title to give to the artwork a new perspective and sense.
The artist lives and works in Vienna.
