About

Injun Chang was born in 1986 in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from Sangmyung University in 2014 with a bachelor’s in animation, but continued his art career exploring a variety of media including painting, performance, and sound art. From 2014 to 2018, he participated in several art fairs in Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, Paris, and Miami. Today in 2019, he is looking to expand his art career in New York City. In addition to exhibiting his paintings in art fairs, Injun also released a group artbook called Malnol-e (meaning “wordplay”), along with an album of his music called Banalog (meaning “half analog, half digital”). Despite the broad spectrum of media used, Injun’s works primarily focus on expressing varying depths of the feeling of regret. In each work he expresses his bottled-up and repressed emotions with natural forces and elements such as gravity and phases of the moon, in addition to rational elements such as mathematical equations. He is influenced by the emotions that accompany his own life experience, relationships, and hardships.
