Italian landscape View of bay from foothills 19th century Large oil painting

About the Item

Signed: Augusto Corelli (1853 - 1918). Superbly and professionally painted Italian landscape. A narrow path, an alley hanging over it with centuries-old oaks, a sea bay in the distance, several figures of people going about their business - this is the whole simple basis of this wonderful Italian landscape. Italian landscapes are always alive and material. With what subtlety the tonal relationships are resolved: the precisely defined foreground gradually, according to the laws of aerial perspective, passes into the distant plan, immersed in the sultry Italian sun and sea. The sun gently envelops all facets, depriving them of strictly defined contours. The Italian sfumato performs a miracle here and makes the viewer feel the movement and vibrations of the air in this beautiful work. This painting will be a wonderful and peaceful element in your interior. And will always delight your eyes. Size app.: 68.5 x 92.6 cm (roughly 27 x 36.5 in). Very Good. Minimal wear. Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 2,1 kg is going to measure some 5 kg volume weight packed for shipment. A. Corelli trained artistically at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, where he graduated at the age of eighteen. He was a pupil of the Neapolitan painter Achille Guerra. He attended the Giggi Academy in Rome in Via Margutta which had been founded by a model for the study from life of the human figure and at the time constituted a meeting point for the most renowned artists, including foreign ones. In 1879 he moved to Paris where he remained only a few months because he did not find the environment suitable for his artistic vision. In fact, he was attracted above all by the landscape and the rural mountain world. He was charmed by the beauty of its inhabitants and by the landscape views. In this place he began a feverish pictorial work, returning several times and recruiting anti-colonists as models, many of whom, within a few years, became professional models. In 1881 he joined the Society of Watercolors and in 1909 he became its adviser. Augusto Corelli is among the first Italian artists to discover the environment of Anticoli Corrado , following the example of the Danish painters Niels Andreas Bredal and Carl Otto Haslund . His watercolors are particularly appreciated. Titles and Acknowledgments: Advisor and academic professor at the Reale Insigne Accadiemia di San Luca, vice president of the Society of Amateurs and lovers of Fine Arts in Rome, honorary member of the Vienna Watercolor Association, honorary member of the Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo Association, honorary member of the Association watercolor painters of Rome, correspondent member of the Munich Secessionists, judge in painting competitions and ministerial judging commissions to admit professors to art institutes. Russian Modernist Сityscape Venetian Motive early 20th century Oil Painting
Located in Stockholm, SE
Signed lower left: Vasily (Wilhelm) Filippovich Levi (1878 - 1954). The uncommon view of Venice was depicted by gifted artist in even more modernism manner than his other works of same period. IMO this one worth special acceptance being very rare and highly desired masterwork. The scorching sun gilds the sparkling expanse of the canal with its rays. At this hour the city is empty. Calm waves gently lap against the keel of the gondola. The artist perfectly transferred to the canvas the atmospheric idyll and romantic magic of old Venice. Oil painting on wood, signed, framed. Size app.: 47 x 64 cm (roughly 18.5 x 25.2 in) and beautiful antique frame ca 64.5 x 81 cm (roughly 25.4 x 31.9 in). Very Good condition, ready to hang condition, age wear (just minor wear to frame finish). Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 3.2 kg is going to measure some 5 kg packed for shipment. V. F. Levi - lawyer, collector, and also an artist. He spent his childhood in Riga, studied at the Alexander Gymnasium. He graduated from the 1st Kharkov Gymnasium (1899) and the Faculty of Law of Kharkov University. In 1916 he moved to Terijoki, built a house there and decided to devote himself to art. In 1918, on the advice of I. I. Brodsky, he showed his works to I. E. Repin and received his approval. After some time, he became Repin's confidant: during 1919-1930, he organized more than 50 Repin exhibitions in Helsinki, Prague, The Hague, Hamburg, Nice, Cannes and other European cities. In 1930-1939 he lived in Paris. In 1930 he participated in the Exhibition of Paintings by Russian Masters...

Vila Olivos, David Hockney Style Art, Original Architectural Landscape Painting
By Karen Lynn
Located in Deddington, GB
This is a painting from my modernist pool series of paintings. In this particular painting I loved the shape of the kidney shaped pool and I placed the olive trees surrounding the architectural modern home in a group of three. Painting and landscaping the garden with cacti and hedges give the painting its unique colourful landscape. Contrasting the straight lines of the architecture to the soft lines of the plants and fauna give this painting an interesting focus. Karen Lynn is available at Wychwood Art. Karen is an increasingly collectable figurative artist whose work is inspired by the glamour and appeal of the 40's, 50's and 60's; an era that Christian Dior described as the 'Golden Age' of fashion. Stylistically, Lynn's work has been compared to Hopper and Hockney. Initially training as a fashion designer, Lynn worked as a costumier for the English National Opera before successfully switching into set design, working for many years on a number of iconic feature films, before moving into television and commercials. In 2001, Lynn turned her attentions to painting in oils. Her wide experience of designing for film, television and theatre provides her with a unique and contemporary viewpoint; not surprisingly, her work has been snapped up by collectors both here and in the US. Lynn's detailed drawing is complemented by the use of bold strokes, often consisting of colourful and varied characters. Vila Olivos...
