Mickaël Doucet
La Memoir du Temps

2024

About the Item

Mickaël Doucet is a French, Paris-based artist whose work largely focuses on vibrancy of color and minimalistic interiors, one bouncing off the other to create bright, dynamic scenes. Mickaël's work often strikes such a balance, using precise technique and a geometrical approach all the while incorporating bright, playful colors on a generally large scale. His preferred medium is oil on canvas, which inevitably contributes to Mickaël's vivid, colorful approach. In Doucet's work, intricate compositions with lively, enticing colors depict lush landscapes through the viewpoint of contemporary structures with floor to ceiling windows and awe-inducing scenery. While viewers may be swept up in the peaceful scenes at hand- which feature detailed interiors with stylish, modern design- questions also come to mind regarding the humans who inhabit them, the fragile nature of life, and what lies beyond.

Reflections on Crossing XXXVIII / abstract realism, architecture, minimalism
By Anne Subercaseaux
Located in Burlingame, CA
Shades of dark cobalt blue and light blue with patterns are at play in Anne Subercaseaux's meticulously painted 'Reflections on Crossing XXXVIII', oil on canvas. Anne Subercaseaux finds substance in the insubstantial, in paintings that freeze the ephemeral patterns of reflection and shadow. In her muted, almost monochrome palettes, images seem familiar but still elusive. The precise silhouette of a bridge girder or a windblown branch moves into focus and out again, a fleeting glimpse from the corner of the eye...

Cityscape, Acrylic on Canvas, Brown, Red, Grey by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"
By Tapas Ghosal
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Tapas Ghosal - Untitled - 12 x 12 inches ( unframed size) ) Acrylic on Canvas , 2021 *** Framed ( packing :complimentary; shipping cost would need to be extra) Style : In Hindu philosophy, the 'Antahkaran' refers to the totality of two levels of mind , namely the Buddhi, the intellect or higher mind, and the Manas, the middle levels of mind which exist as or include the mental body. It refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions. Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces, sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind, enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of mystic silence. The extant contemplative in wardress in him got charged with meditative spirituality through his association with this heritage city. Benaras, started flowing in his canvasses both through landscapes and human faces. Since 1995-96 his Benaras paintings started transforming. Initially his landscapes contained reflection of naturalness transformed through melancholic chiaroscuro. Gradually the naturalness started disintegrating into expressionistic structures. At a certain stage during 2004-05 some of these structures yielded into abstractions shedding all the links with naturalness. Then again the sign-symbols integrated into geometrical structures reflecting traces of original locations. About the Artist and his works : Born : Born in 1965. Tapas spent his childhood and early youth in the quiet idyllic environment of rural Bengal. The soothing lyrical landscape and the intrinsic mythical past within the rural life made a great impact in his inner being, which aroused in him love for beauty, spiritual in nature, making him contemplative and inward looking. Educational Qualification : 1989 : Graduation in Painting from Govt.College of Art and Craft, Kolkata (First Class First) 1992 : Post Graduate in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (First Class). Solo Exhibition : 1993 : The Centre Art Gallery, Kolkata; 1994 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : Gallery Katayun, Kolkata; 1997 : ABC Art...
