The Living Theory explores the power of ideas to shape reality, addressing the enduring Western dichotomy between mind and matter. The scene unfolds inside a classroom: a scientist, coffee in hand, contemplates a blackboard filled with intricate equations. Yet, these formulas—derived from the Fibonacci sequence—refuse to remain confined to abstraction. They escape into the world, transforming space through lines of light and geometrical rhythm.
Pearleyes invites reflection on how ideas mold not only our understanding but the very fabric of our existence. Through the playful emergence of a “living theory,” he visualizes the porous frontier between inner and outer worlds. The classroom becomes a microcosm of consciousness itself: within it, imagination reshapes physical order, while the rational architecture of the room echoes the golden spiral, a motif historically linked to natural harmony and divine proportion.
The artist’s signature fusion of Renaissance structure, Korean artistic sensibility, skateboard culture, Post-Impressionist color, and Pop Surrealist wit results in an image that oscillates between philosophy and humor. His painterly treatment balances clarity with wonder, turning an intellectual metaphor into a vivid, tangible space. Nico Pearleyes
Nico Pearleyes is a French painter based in Paris. He studied graphic design at Gobelins School in Paris and began painting during the 2020 lockdown, developing a personal language that merges Renaissance composition, Korean traditional art, skateboard culture, Post-Impressionism, and Pop Surrealism. His work often depicts surreal landscapes, symbolic animals, and dreamlike atmospheres, exploring the boundary between reality and imagination. Having lived between South Korea and the French Alps, his practice is deeply shaped by these cultural and natural environments. Through his paintings, Pearleyes questions how images influence our perception of the world and invites viewers to reconsider the narratives that define their reality.
