About the Item

Jasper Leadbeater, Glorious 12th – Red Grouse in Flight, 2025 Mixed media – Upcycled shotgun shell casings on panel 58 x 70 cm ( 22.83 x 27.56 in) Edition of 6 Glorious 12th is a vibrant celebration of British countryside tradition, depicting a red grouse in full flight on the iconic opening day of the grouse shooting season. Meticulously created from upcycled shotgun shell casings, this striking mixed media work transforms symbols of the hunt into an intricate, contemporary portrait of wildlife in motion. Golden brass shells form a shimmering backdrop, while hand-cut stencils and spray-painted details bring the grouse’s plumage to life with rich russet, ochre, and ivory tones. The piece sits at the intersection of traditional sporting art and modern industrial craftsmanship, making it an ideal statement for collectors of wildlife art, country sports memorabilia, and contemporary mixed media. Red grouse artwork, Glorious Twelfth art, British Game Bird, Shotgun Shell Art, Jasper Leadbeater, Countryside Artwork, Field Sports Art, Wildlife Mixed Media, Upcycled Art, Industrial Animal Portrait, Pop Art, Sustainable Art, Spray Paint, Painting, Gun, Military, Hunting, Subversive Bio: Jasper Leadbeater is an entirely self-taught British artist whose distinctive medium has gained international recognition. With a background in fine art and a passion for drawing, he began his career producing pencil commissions, laying the foundations for what was to come. In 2014, curiosity led him to experiment with upcycled shotgun shells, resulting in his debut work, Ho Chi Minh, created under the theme of War and Peace. Over the years, he has refined this unique technique, blending intricately hand-drawn and hand-cut stencils with spray paint to transform reclaimed ammunition into striking works of art. Immersed in the British countryside, Jasper’s early collections drew inspiration from the traditional sport of game shooting, reimagined through contemporary animal portraiture. More recently, his focus has shifted toward bold pop culture references and cinematic icons, capturing their essence in a medium that juxtaposes the destructive with the creative. Jasper’s work has attracted an elite following — his very first collector was His Majesty the King of Bahrain — and his pieces are now sought after by private collectors worldwide.

Money Lending Business – Shotgun Shell Art Lock Stock Guy Ritchie Portrait
Located in Manchester, GB
Jasper Leadbeater, Money Lending Business, 2025 Upcycled shotgun shells and spraypaint 58 x 70 cm (22.8 x 27.56 in) Edition of 6 Jasper is completely self taught. Having started his journey with a background in fine art and a passion for drawing, years of pencil commissions soon followed and became the foundations of what was to come. Curiosity led him to experiment with shotgun shells and he created the Ho Chi Minh piece in 2014, under the theme of 'War and Peace'. Having refined this unique medium over the years, immersion in the countryside gave inspiration to his first collection of works; combining the traditional country sport of shooting game with a contemporary approach to animal portraiture, creating original pieces using intricately hand-drawn and hand-cut stencils with spray paint. Progress and experimentation has led Jasper to focus his recent works on pop culture references and cinematic icons. A gritty, show-stopping portrait of Vinnie Jones, inspired by his iconic role in Guy Ritchie’s cult classic Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Constructed from upcycled shotgun shell casings, this powerful mixed media piece fuses urban art with industrial materials, capturing the raw energy and bravado of British gangster cinema. The golden brass shell backdrop contrasts sharply with the black-and-white figure, echoing the stylized tension of 1990s crime films. More than just a portrait, Vinnie is a tribute to the explosive visual style made famous by Guy Ritchie, and a clever reuse of materials once associated with violence, now transformed into fine art.
