About the Item
Vibrant 'Red Rain' by Mexican-American contemporary visual artist and celebrated architect Javier Arizmendi-Kalb, who creates autobiographical paintings that are comprised of both abstract and representational elements that consider the natural world as it intersects with utilitarian and architectural design. 'Red Rain' — 6 x 6 feet (72 x 72 inches), — is created in two parts that hang side by side. Each individual panel is 6x3 feet. 'Red Rain' is from a series of paintings that characterize sacred spaces such as Mexican chapels and Middle Eastern mosques, where strong light enters the interior space though small and controlled apertures, endowing light with symbolic meaning.
The action painting is painted in multicolor including mainly red, yellow and silver with broad strokes, drips and lines. The work is autobiographical in nature and is heavily layered. Oil paint and oil crayon on hand-stretched cotton canvas. Artist initials are on the front of the canvas, and it is signed, titled and dated Verso. Condition as new. Excellent. Unframed. Ready to hang.
Painted in 2017. Available for the first time in 2019, at Andra Norris Gallery in Burlingame, CA. Javier Arizmendi-Kalb currently resides in California.
