About the Item
This 36" x 108" acrylic on panel triptych was painted by Oklahoma artist, John Wolfe. This triptych presents an urban environment, employing bold geometric forms and a vivid color palette. The artist utilizes a modernist approach, with an emphasis on architectural elements. Each of the three panels contributes to a cohesive architectural continuity. The left panel introduces a strong verticality through the red façade, large windows, and a streetlamp, creating a sense of depth and spatial layering. The middle panel serves as the focal point, with an interplay of rectangular and trapezoidal forms that suggest a harmonious urban landscape. The right panel, in contrast, opens up into a more ambiguous space, with a solitary car parked within the space. The artist employs a color scheme of red, blue and grey. The deep red hues of the left panel contrast sharply with the cool greys and muted blues. The interplay of shadow and light adds an illusion of depth, guiding the viewer’s eye through the architectural elements. The absence of human figures in this work enhances a sense of solitude and contemplation, characteristic of modernist urban alienation.
John Wolfe was born in Vernon, Texas on August 23, 1947. He attended public school in Davidson, Oklahoma and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a degree in Art Education. He completed his M Ed at the University of Central Oklahoma in 1976. John taught art in the Midwest City-Del City school system for 35 years and was an adjunct at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma and Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. John's work has been exhibited extensively across Oklahoma and the surrounding region. Adept at working in several media including painting, assemblages and sculptural forms, he often incorporates found objects.

View All'Solarium', by Anthony Dyke, Oil on Canvas Painting, 2022
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
Anthony Dyke's "Solarium," a 74 x 48 x 1.25 inch oil on canvas painting, references solar flares in its use of shape and color. The bright values of yellows, reds and blues surround a large red circular shape. The bright color wavelengths give this painting a vibrational energy.
Anthony Dyke was born in Norwich, Vermont and attended The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University earning a BFA and MFA in painting. As an artist and arts educator, he relocated from New York City to his down¬town Oklahoma City studio, working there for two decades before returning to Boston in 2020. Coming from VERMONT where the seasons are distinctly different from one another. My shift from a pastoral setting to an urban environment set up a dichotomy in my work, both visual and emotional. I have an extensive education in painting, photography, graphic design and figure sculpture. These mediums intersect in my work through many years of creating artworks and currently speak to my interest in abstract painting. During my senior year in the BFA Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, my large painting “Natole” was chosen by Frank Stella (the juror) into the highly competitive and prestigious Dana Pond...

Gerald Wolfe’s wall pieces have a three-dimensional, architectural feel. The artist’s approach to his paintings is intuitive. He meticulously creates his works step by step, imbuing shapes and lines with energy. The interplay of forms, color, and texture creates tension between flatness and depth. His work can become a unique gift and will be a wonderful addition to any space, be it a living room of a modern home or a lobby of a commercial building.
Gerald Wolfe received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Maryland in 1972, discovered his interest in art and went on to study fine arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
