About the Item
Looking up through the tree tops brings a sense of freedom. I love the way the light shines through the branches creating patterns and textures. I've worked in acrylics for the first layer to create bright bursts of pink. Then layers of oil paint to create the textures of the woodland with scrapers and palette knives. This piece is framed in a wood tray frame and is ready to hang.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Belinda is an acclaimed contemporary landscape artist who resides and works in Devon. She immerses herself in the landscape where she finds freedom and a love of space. Subsequently she works in her studio employing her sentiments and a sense of the place to create her art. She holds a BA Honours degree in Illustration from Chelsea School of Art and an MA in Narrative Illustration and Editorial Design from Brighton University. Belinda has previously won Devon Life’s Landscape Artist of the Year and was longlisted for the Jackson’s Open Oil painting competition. In 2019, she held her first London solo exhibition. In 2021 and 2022, she was shortlisted for the British Art Prize run by Artists and Illustrators. Belinda’s landscapes are a reflection of herself. Every painting is a result of several days of work, with layers of texture and colour added to create a finished piece that seeks to engage the viewer and evoke their individual thoughts and emotions

The painting was inspired by a series of flower borders in the Oxford Botanic Gardens known as the Merton Borders, a natural planting, with sustainability in mind, the species are able to withstand high temperatures and low rainfall. The borders are a riotous profusion of pink, yellow and purple flowers.
Last image shows a diptych - The other works is sold but commissions are available. This was the left hand panel of a bright jazzy pair of paintings intended to form a diptych - see Red Hot Border II which formed the right hand panel. The paintings may be hung separately or side by side as shown in the insitu image.
