About the Item
Chris Armstrong’s hypnotic, masterly and often photographic renderings and paintings of the sea, waves, light and the ocean in general are highly acclaimed by the art community. This contemporary artist received his MFA from New York University and is the son of realist artist David Armstrong. His works are often oil paint on aluminum and as in the case of this piece no frame is required and visually is stunning in a room as it floats on the wall. The softness, pale blue coloring of this work is particularly tranquil, soothing and restful as often his work can be tumultuous and energizing. There is a velvety quality to both the light and waves and a sensuous atmosphere.

He came out of Abstract Expressionism in the New York school but then pivoted, like Milton Avery to representational, colorist work. The frame is a silvered gold leaf float frame of quality and has a rubbed, antiqued surface...Category
