A beautiful oil on canvas by French artist Roger de la Corbiere depicting a sunset on the coast at Rotheneuf, near St Malo in Brittany. He studied under the Russian painter Choltse, who was a great exponent of light and shade particularly in snow scenes. On August 2, 1922 he married Martha Germaine Page (1891-1975) in Paris. He had two daughters. Corbiere was Influenced by Paul Signac (1863-1935), who helped him to start his painting career in La Rochelle.
