DE GRAILLY Victor (1804-1887) Lakeside Landscape Oil on canvas signed and dated 1839 Low left Old frame gilded with leaves Dim canvas : 54 X 74 cm - Dim frame : 71 X 90 cm DE GRAILLY Victor (1804-1887) French painter and illustrator born on 25 October 1804 in Paris and died on 4 September 1887 in Paris. A pupil of the landscape painter Jean-Victor Bertin (1767-1842), he exhibited at the Salon from 1833. Some of his graphic works have also illustrated editions, including Recherches historiques sur l'abbaye du Breuil-Benoit in the diocese of Évreux by Jules Berger de Xivrey (Paris, Didot, 1847). Museums: Hotel de la Vicomté in Melun, Elbeuf Museum, Magnin Museum in Dijon, Museum of Fine Arts of Rennes Bibliography: Dictionary of Artists – E.Benezit – Grund Publisher
