Donna McGinnis
Donna McGinnis is known for her imagined land and skyscapes that bridge realism with dreamscape or Magic Realism. Soft rolling golden hills and billowing white clouds in blue or stormy skies are recurring themes in her work. McGinnis is a mid-career American artist, whose oil on canvas paintings shine with the light and warmth of nature. She is associated with The American Impressionists and Magic Realism. Her work is included in some of the nation's most prestigious museums, public institutions and private collections, and is collected worldwide. Her works are contemporary and modern in composition. Both styles of painting are developed in the same way. Neither the abstracts nor landscapes start with preconceived ideas. With the swirling of brushwork and layering of glazes, McGinnis creates her signature style of softness and painting that glows from within. The Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco includes three of her drawings in its permanent collection and her work also appears in other numerous private and public collections. McGinnis has shown her work at the Oakland Museum of California, Arkansas Arts Center, Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and several other public spaces and galleries. McGinnis paints in the landscape and abstract genre.

- Summer Day Lilies (Contemporary Still Life of Vibrant Lilies, Oil on canvas)By Dan RupeLocated in Hudson, NYSummer Day Lilies (Contemporary Still Life of Vibrant Lilies, Oil on canvas) by Dan Rupe 22 x 22 inches oil on canvas Signed on reverse Artist Dan Rupe paints only from life, his composition ruled by his intuitive sense of formal order. He begins covering his canvas with a deep crimson wash. This ground gives his brilliant pure color , applied with an expressive, direct gesture, an electric charge. No matter how often or how long one looks at a Rupe painting, it is always the present tense. The tone of his palette, the freshness and clarity of primary colors, reflects an optimistic attitude, an intrinsic love of life. In this work, three vibrant pale nude colored lilies open their blooms amidst bright green grasses. Rupe succeeds at capturing the immediacy of his subjects be it flowers, buildings or people. Read below for an amusing profile written about the artist in 2003: You‘ve likely seen him on the streets of Hudson, seated before his canvas in a multi-colored paint daubed t-shirt and shorts, his straw hat providing shade for all but his tanned forearms and knees. His splattered Technicolor Walkman tape player...Category

- 214, 216 State St. (Fauvist-Style Suburban Landscape Oil Painting)By Dan RupeLocated in Hudson, NYContemporary Oil Painting of State St. in Hudson, NY by Dan Rupe Oil on canvas 18 x 24 inches This colorful depiction of cool gray and yellow houses in the sun was painted by Hudson, NY artist Dan Rupe. The buttery yellow house stands out against its pastel blue surroundings alongside a wood sided townhouse. Paint is applied loosely to the canvas in thick, vivid strokes, lending the painting a very palpable texture that is characteristic of Rupe's work. Bright swaths of color applied with bold strokes thick with paint are his signature techniques.
