Along the Maine coast, the surf can be turbulent, the tide ferocious, the skies exquisite, the rocks unyielding. In this original marine landscape you can feel the roll of the waves, hear them pounding upon the rock wall, and actually see the changing colors of the shadows as the sun begins it's dramatic descent. Artist Dmitri Wright, Director of the Weir Farm National Historic Site Art Academy, where he teaches art in addition to teaching painting at the venerable Florence Griswold Museum, both of Connecticut, punctuates this contemporary oil painting with impasto paint, highlighting the joy to behold relaxing along the renowned French coastline.
