About the Item
"Central Park, New York City" is a charming winter landscape with skaters in a snowy landscape. Born in 1910, Edna V. Culbreth graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1931. A painter, Culbreth studied with Theodora Kane and participated in numerous juried exhibitions winning several awards. Her work was featured on the cover of the Foreign Service Journal. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Two Thousand Women of Achievement. She was a member of the National League of American Pen Women, American Art League, Board of Governors of Arts Club and Sarasota Art Association. Culbreth was also a published poet. Culbreth worked for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs for many years and also taught at the Bancroft School.
