About the Item
Wonderful minimalist watercolor of sand dune with grass and birds by Ed Walaitis (American, 1914-2005), 1978. Signed and dated lower left. Condition: Excellent. Presented in light wood frame with plexiglass. Image size: 22.50"H x 29.50"W. Framed size: 28"H x 35"W.
Ed Walaitis was born in 1914 in Bayonne, New Jersey and as an infant visited Lithuania. The out break of World War I stranded the family there and Ed attended school until 16 years old.. Most of his formal education was received in Lithuania. with additional studies in the fine arts field in New York and Chicago. He moved to Barrington, Illinois which formed the inspiration of his works. He is best known for the versatility of subjects but specializing in city scenes, sand dunes, waterfowl and landscapes. Walaitis's art has appeared on American Artists Group greeting cards, Ford Motor Co. times, the Chicago Tribune and Yankee Magazines. He has received awards from Union League Club of Chicago, Artists Guild of Chicago, Springfield Art Museum.
