About the Item
This work comprises a pair of paintings of a meadow called Long Mead, which create a diptych. Although the paintings could be available separately, they compliment one another when hung side by side, on opposite walls or within the same interior.
The subject of the diptych is a floodplain meadow which, as the name suggests, lies adjacent to a river and receives the overflow of water in the winter months.
Vegetation that is found in these habitats is adapted to the annual inundation. If the ground is undisturbed, many species will establish on an ancient meadow, especially great burnet – with its nobbly purple flowers and seed heads, which needs many years without disturbance to create a deep root system. There is also the frothy cream astilbe and the purple common vetch. The result is a delightful brown, purple, mauve, turquoise and pink colour palette. When it comes to colour, nature knows best.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Elaine Kazimierczuk studied chemistry at university and taught for many years before becoming a professional artist.
She has written and illustrated a series of books on local history besides a monograph on the religious works of the prominent sculptor Peter Eugene Ball, with whom she collaborated on many major commissions.
She is a trustee of Midlands-based Ice-age Archaeological Insights and produces visual interpretations of prehistoric people and their environment.
In addition to the demand for her landscapes, there is a growing clientele for her portraiture. She has been shortlisted for the 2016 BP National Portrait Award.
Many of Elaine Kazimierczuk’s works are based on interpretations of intimately-known localities, frequently, but not exclusively, in her native Nottinghamshire.
In her semi-abstract studies of meadows, trees and hedgerows, she achieves a tension between looseness and control, which enables her to convey that intricate assembly of wild beauty. Frequently working on a red ground, which resonates with the vibrant overpainting, she adopts a bold approach, so that there is an evident freedom, just short of capriciousness, either of hand or eye, in the brushwork. Her works represent the ordered chaos of the natural world with energy and vitality.
Elaine Kazimierczuk has recently been awarded the Mary Moser Prize for 2018. This is an Oxfordshire Art Weeks prize awarded to a person who has changed career and taken up art professionally later in life.

- Looking up through the tallest spring leaves to excitement 2, Mental Health ArtLocated in Deddington, GBLooking up through the tallest spring leaves to excitement 2 [2022] original Oil on Canvas Image size: H:120 cm x W:40 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:120 cm x W:40 cm x D:5cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look This tree is one of two painted together as Emz loves to stand between them and look up. They seem to have grown in perfect harmony - each one making room for the other. This painting is part of a series called Look Up Trees. Emz spends time with trees daily to help her mind heal from PTSD in 2021. She has 'grown' over 140 trees in oil paint and digitally on her ipad. The mindful painting process she's established helps her to recognise and work through some difficult emotions. She's currently working on ways she can share these tools with others through a mindful sketching practice. Emily Finch, Artist, Painter is available with Wychwood Art. Emz has always been hugely inspired by the natural world, growing up on a farm in Wiltshire, South West England. At school, Emz was the art scholar and pushed the boundaries of what was possible in terms of scale and ambition for her art projects with her art teachers, making sculpture and installations which were deeply conceptual. At the age of 18, Emz became disabled overnight after a failed hip replacement and was left in a wheelchair. The decision was taken to abandon her dreams to go to art college, so she obtained a degree and went on to have a successful career in the City and then in TV, career highlights including working with David Attenborough on 7 productions. Emz found her painting again after her daughter was born in 2017. She embarked on a foundation at the London Fine Art Studios and won a scholarship to the Creative Visionary Programme in 2019. After hosting a sellout open house that same year, Emz spent the 2020 lockdown painting a series called #GreenLondon, celebrating the green spaces all around her in London. The paintings from this series were exhibited at my local David Lloyd gym at Raynes Park during COVID restrictions. Since 2020, Emz also has an active commission book selling gifts of landscapes that could not be visited during lockdown – these paintings helped people celebrate love, commemorate deaths and remember family time that was much missed. Since March 2021 Emz has been growing her forest of trees in memory of the losses, she suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. She aims to use this work to raise awareness about mental health...Category
