Artist Comments
Artist Elizabeth Rickert grew up along the marshes of Maryland's Eastern Shore and has a deep love for this particular landscape. "No matter where I have lived in the US, I find marshes with new elements," says Elizabeth. "The marshes on the Eastern Shore are flat, whereas in New England they include the purple plant loosestrife. In the southwest, I have found marshes with hills and unusual birds." In this particular piece, she captures a quiet afternoon with clouds slowly passing overhead.
