Gruppe was born in Rochester, NY, and went on to become a renowned New England landscape and marine painter, best known for his vigorous portrayals of the harbors and houses of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, and housed in a decorative scrafitto giltwood frame. Dimensions: 20 in H x 24 in W, actual; 25.5 in H x 29.25 in W, framed. Ref:7
