About the Item

This scene is one of my all time favourites and it’s all about the light and contrast. Building up colours using a credit card it is a joy to see what happens when you meld two colours alongside each other. Sometimes they really fizz just like in ‘First Light’. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Acrylic paint on Canvas Sold unframed Image size: Height: 76cm (29.92 in) Width: 122cm (48.03 in) Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Fiona was born in Guildford and growing up in Surrey and Hampshire, she studied Art at what was then known as the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham, where she specialised in graphics and typography. Initially Fiona had a career in the visual sector and worked as a stylist and after her boys were born, she took some time out for herself where started to paint again. It was an experimental piece attracted a lot of interest and quickly sold, bringing with it lots of commissions and interest from galleries. From her studio in Upper Farringdon, she works mainly in acrylic, but initially spends a lot of time on her tablet, sketching and planning with the main focus on the composition and palette. She is inspired mainly by the incredible Bourne Woods in Surrey where many films including Gladiator and The Marvel series were set, but Fiona's love of colours and use of space on the canvas is what excites her the most about painting. Fiona get's real pleasure in the details of the composition and the finishing touches which make a picture work. The buzz created by two or more colours working alongside each other can really make the work sing. At the beginning of each piece, her goal is to make the painting come alive, using colours that bring her energy on to the canvas. She is not scared of making mistakes, and the benefit of acrylics is that she can layer the paint as much as she needs to until she can get the feeling in her belly that the piece is complete. When planning a composition, she view's the world as series of shapes inter-connecting with each other. Fields become a group of misshapen triangles or parallelograms and the trees provide a wonderful vertical series of lines breaking through them. There is so much more to our countryside than green fields, and there is always room for some disco pink! Each painting has it’s own story and the colours are a reflection on her mood, the seasons, the music she is listening to, and if a commission, the person she is painting it for.

It's in the rustling trees, it's in the air we breathe, it's in the songs we sing, it's in everything. I am proud of my art as it has a voice. It speaks to me, it speaks for me. It reveals my heart and my soul. I hope my art speaks to others too. That it comforts and confronts, that it challenges and questions, that it demands all and nothing. My art is my books, my music, my history and the history of others. Electric Dreams...
