Thank you so much! we appreciate your interest to our work. A woman swims in a pool. Banal scene of ordinary life. Two details, nestled in the shadows, reveal underlying narratives. A man whose shadow can be seen stands by the pool, out of view. As for the shadow of the swimmer, it evokes a mermaid: ambiguity and possible mutation of this woman. In West Africa, the mermaid, with fair skin, possesses a double power: purveyor of wealth, she can be fatal to her lover whom she would take with her to the bottom of the oceans. I am sensitive to the evocation of suspended moments, when the situations are not yet determined. Anything can still happen: good and bad, but never quite one, nor quite the other. The cheerful colors disturb less serene. Florence Metge Maitre Florence Metgé is a French painter. She was born in 1952 in Algeria.
