Cottonwoods at Reservoir Lodge, Signed Original Expressionist Landscape Painting

2023

About the Item

Cottonwoods at Reservoir Lodge, Signed Original Expressionist Landscape Painting 24" x 30" x 1.25" (HxWxD), Oil on Canvas Hand-signed by the artist. A complementary color scheme of vibrant orange and purple dominate the canvas in this expressionist landscape painting by artist Gina Blickenstaff. A grassy hill covered in delicate mark making slopes down to the left in the foreground, with autumn foliage bursting forth in front of an expanse of colorful fields and a mountain range sprawling in the distance. Artist Commentary: This view is near my home in northern Colorado. It arrests me every time I pass by, especially when the cottonwoods are in their Autumn splendor! About the Artist: I specialize in portraiture, with a particular fondness for the Mother and Child theme, although any depiction of the “love aspect” is what inspires me. How we connect with those close to us is, in my opinion, the deciding factor on how we progress on the spiritual path. It is not our career accomplishments or the development of our talents - it is how we kiss the hand of the person walking our path with us on this journey. When I depict relationships in my figurative works, I am keen to keep this in mind and hope to inspire my viewers to take care with those small precious moments. I also paint still lifes and landscapes. Any excuse to pick a bouquet of flowers or go for a hike in search of a riveting landscape is most welcome. Recently I began an “Around Town” series which brings new excitement for me in exploring our personal relationships within the enticing moods of the big (or little) city. My approach to art includes: my reverence for all forms of life and the loving and creative relationships which they form, recognition of the light that pervades all, and a love of color. I have exhibited in many art shows over the years and have won many awards, although I took a break from that promotional path for a while. Currently, I have picked up that path again and am presently enjoying an Honorable Mention in a local “Color” exhibit at 3 Square Art Gallery and some exposure in the following online exhibitions: Biafarin “Extinction”, Art Fluent “Within”, Arts Benicia “Contemporary Figurative Work”, and Fusion “Cityscape”. They are all international exhibits. In 2007, I received the Lorenzo di Medici President’s Award at the Biennale in Florence, Italy. My professional career has spanned thirty four years so far and has included illustration, graphic design, mural painting, teaching, and fine art. Portraiture has remained my passion and become my specialty. Whatever the environing conditions of life, you can always find me behind an “art desk” of one kind or another, be it an easel, a camera lens or a computer!

  • Big Rio, Original Contemporary Expressionist Landscape Oil Painting on Linen
    Located in Boston, MA
Big Rio, Original Contemporary Expressionist Landscape Painting 48" x 48" x 1.75" (HxWxD) Oil on Linen This large square-format work by artist Carol Tippit Woolworth features a stunning color palette of rich greens and reds combined with muted blues, purples, and orange tones. There is a balance, both with the color, but also with the composition as the Rio Grande wraps around the curves in the Southwestern landscape, opening up towards the viewer and simultaneously guiding your eye around to the landscape in the distance. This Mexican desert appears calm and a bit desolate, but also bursting with life and energy through the colors used and the loose, energetic mark making that is characteristic of expressionist landscape works. Artist Commentary: The Rio Grande About the Artist: Art has always been a central part of Carol's life. Constantly drawing as a child, the passion to create something two dimensional has continued to this day, through oil and gouache. Carol currently lives in Santa Fe, NM and exhibits at Smilow Mathiesen Gallery on Canyon Road. She graduated with a BA in Art through the University of California at Santa Barbara, with an emphasis in Painting, but has continued to study at various art institutions (Parsons NYC; Silvermine Artists Guild, CT; Rohaton Art Center, CT; Delaware College of Art & Design (DCAD), DE) throughout her career. She now teaches painting at DCAD (Continuing Education), has several private art students, and leads painting workshops in France twice a year. She also works as a self-employed graphic designer. Carol has always been interested in France, the French landscape and French culture. She loves the fields and hilltop towns, and the strong clean lines and shapes they create. The past couple of years this influence has dominated her work. Her landscapes are a constant search for color, contrast, and shapes. Recently Carol has discovered the natural beauty of Lancaster County PA and Northern New Mexico, and is applying her French vocabulary to these new areas. Another influence early on was of an artist whom she babysat for, and who lived across the street, in Santa Barbara: Priscella Bender Shore. She eventually became her favorite art teacher and mentor at the Santa Barbara Community College. Priscella's work was of women in a swimming pools, reflecting and refracting light. They were both figurative and abstract. This images haunted Carol's memories until she could recently recreate the swimming pool paintings...
