Nineteenth century Italian (“I cataloghi d'Arte della Fenice. Ottocento Italiano”), vol. II, ed. the Phoenix, p. 111 Carrozzi, born in Milan in 1864, from a young age began to take drawing lessons. Graduating in law in Bologna, Carozzi returned to Milan, where, in 1889, he made his debut at the permanent exhibition. He then went to Chioggia where he was enthusiastic about the lagoon landscapes. When he went to Chioggia, Carozzi began to alternate mountain tours, attracted by the alpine landscape, also dear to Segantini. His destinations were the Mottarone, the Engadine, the Valais. The themes of the mountain and the lagoon visions added new research into the landscape, applying to night-time effects in the moonlight and on the snow. Appointed director of the "Artistic Family" of Milan, in 1900 he organized the Art Exhibition in Como and the 19th century exhibition of Lombard painting at the Permanente in Milan. In 1895 he exhibited in Monaco, then in Berlin, Copenhagen, Petersburg, between 1898 and 1901, in Paris for the Universal Exhibition 1900, where he won a silver medal. Several trips to Paris, England, Holland, Belgium, Spain, the contact with the painting of the French, the divisionists, determined an evolution of his painting. In 1912, at the height of his artistic career, the painter was elected to be part of the jury of acceptance of the X Biennale, in which he participated with an extended solo show. This exhibition gave the dimension of the personality of Carozzi "painter of the mountain" that finds its most authentic expression in the severe architecture of the mountains, made of naked and clean masses, free from any search for photographic realism and romanticism. These characteristics appear in this painting “The flower of the snow”, where the colors white of the snow and of the bell tower and the brown of the wood of the houses are preeminent. Carrozzi died in 1938 in Montecarlo.
