About the Item

Gustavo Úbeda (1930-1994) - Rio - Oil panel Oil measurements 50x40 cm. Frame measurements 58x48cm. The painting by Gustavo Úbeda Romero (Herencia, 1930 – Sao Paulo, 1994) comes from a family of painters by aesthetics and by kinship. Brother of the painter Agustín Úbeda and the photographer Ángel Úbeda. Painter, ceramicist, poet and playwright. Due to his stay in Paris and the influence of his brother in his beginnings, he made him follow the feelings of the French School, of the last Spanish painters of the School of Paris, back in the fifties and sixties. Although the painting he practices has the influence of Romanesque figuration and a decorative interpretation, it is not without its own personality that he applies with a warm and colorful palette. Gustavo Úbeda's life has emerged far from La Mancha, since at the age of 12 his family moved to Madrid. After spending a few years in that city, he changed his residence to Paris and in 1955 he moved permanently to Salvador de Bahía, where he would spend his entire life, full of various poetic, artistic, scenic and craft activities, with a great movement of solo exhibitions. in much of South America.
