About the Item
A French oil on board seascape of fishing boats under sail by Henri Edouard Bargin. The painting is signed bottom right and presented in a deep painted wood frame with an artist's name collection label. The panel size is 16cm x 24cm.
A charming seascape of fishing boats with their sails, the fisherman dealing with their catch. Bargin has used an impasto technique and lots of wonderful rich colours to give a texture and richness to the painting. He has captured the feeling of the canvas in the sails and the movement of the sea as the boats jostle for position. Bargin has created a jewel like painting full of charm but capturing an everyday scene from his beloved Mediterranean.
Bargin spent his career painting the coastal views and life of the South of France and the Mediterranean.
