Syros afternoon - XXI Century, Contemporary Landscape Oil Painting, Realistic

2001

About the Item

Janusz Szpyt was born in 1960, he is a Polish painter. He graduated from the Graphic design faculty and painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. 1983 onward, he became the member of the « Group of Three » (Grupa Trzech) also called « Tercet nadety ». "Even though a lot is shown in realist painting, one realizes that realism can always defend itself. Especially, when it tells us the truth about the world, when it goes beyond borders of naturalism and grasps our reality. The artist mainly paints Passion, scenes from the Bible and nudes. These paintings, regardless of their themes, always represent Man. This man is always in a precise situation. The events are shown in the background, tense muscles and expression on the face give the possibility to decipher the psychic and spiritual condition, which influence peoples' behavior and their decisions. The artist not only shows the physical aspect of these models but also their psyche, by highlighting the truth, as the philosophers always strive to show. This is the reason why, Szpyt's paintings are very humane in this time period, often devoid of humanism" said Katarzyna Napiórkowska about Janusz Szpyt. • Twilight Serenity at Sea, Maritime Painting by Swedish Artist Per Linér, 1800s
    Located in Stockholm, SE
This exquisite painting by Per Linér, a distinguished Swedish artist born in the 19th century, eloquently captures the serene maritime essence of what appears to be the Helsingborg region. The canvas is brought to life with a selection of ships that grace the calm waters, suggesting the vibrant trade and seafaring culture of the era. At the heart of the composition lies an island, crowned with modest yet intriguing buildings that hint at human habitation amidst the vastness of nature. Linér's masterful use of a soft, rosy hue in the sky evokes a time of day when the sun's final embers paint the heavens, offering viewers a moment of reflective tranquility. The painting's historical significance is matched by its visual splendor, making it a valuable addition to any collection of classic Scandinavian landscapes. This artwork not only showcases Linér's academic training in Stockholm and Germany but also his deep connection to the landscapes around him, which he chronicled with dedication throughout his career. oil on board signed with monogram PL...
