"Cote d'Azur" Oil on Canvas, 15 by 31 inches, Signed and Framed (Framed size is 23 by 39 inches) By Jean Potronat, French 1921 - 1997 This is a large, colourful and atmospheric oil painting by the French Painter Potronat, he painted primarily around the Cote d'azur but other subjects include Provence. Jean Potronat learned from his accomplished artist father Lucien Potronat, also known for fine quality depictions of picturesque villas in the French Riveria. He was Fascinated by the light and warmth of the area, Potronat's paintings captured this depicting the local coastline with whitewashed villas covered in trailing bougainvillaea near the distinctive blue of the Med under the azure skies.
