Original landscape orientated painting with abstract qualities on a deep canvas. Strong warm colours with high contrast, making it a very dramatic piece. Painted in a loose style which is then worked into and the viewer can reflect on the distant views suggested. Jo works from sketches and memories, and is excited by extreme conditions, which produce dramatic lighting and effects. Always wanting to suggest images that are unclear and can be interpreted by the viewer in different ways. She works with layers of paint to suggest a mystery for the viewer to experience. Some paintings contain figurative references, others are abstract.
