"If Our Paths Should Meet" - Nocturnal Street Scene in Oil on Masonite Romantic nocturnal street scene by Joseph Loganbill (American, b. 1958). Several people walk down a wet street at night, holding umbrellas. Buildings and streetlamps have a soft glow, fading in to the black night. Of particular note are the reflections of the lights and silhouettes on the wet ground. Signed "Loganbill" in the lower left corner. Titled, dated, and signed on verso ('If Our Paths Meet' 2012 Joseph Loganbill) Tag and business card are attached to verso. Presented in a black wood frame with a gold colored accent. Frame size: 21.5"H x 17.5"W Board size: 16"H x 12"W Joseph Loganbill (American, b. 1958) grew up in Newton, Kansas where he first discovered his passion for art at a young age. He loved to draw as a child and took art class he could in high school. Loganbill majored in art at Bethel College, supplementing his education at the Wichita Center for the Arts with evening classes in drawing, pastel, watercolor and print making. Later, he started going out of state to take workshops with painters he admired: Ray Roberts, Joseph Lorusso, David Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, and Jeff Legg. Loganbill started his career doing commissioned paintings of people’s homes, and found that he enjoyed painting outside more than anything else. Loganbill currently serves as director of the Carriage Factory Art Gallery, where he both works and teaches in an adjacent studio. Artist’s statement: Beauty and meaning are both profoundly available in the here and now. If we think like detectives, constantly on the hunt for creative spark, we can find magic in apparently the most mundane places. Life becomes an aesthetic feast.
