Private Brazilian Collector
He was born in Toulouse in 1880. Painter and engraver, he was a self-taught artist who had no academic background. He began to draw very young and in the first stage he was very successful with his beautiful engravings.
He was also passionate about fashion, achieving success and fame very quickly, both in France and the United States.
He worked for the most important design centers, at a time when fashion was undergoing a profound and radical change. In 1925, in Paris, the term "Art Deco" was created in the exhibition "Decorative Arts" that spread throughout the French capital. The art deco of Icart became the symbol of the time.
His style was influenced and inspired by the great French masters of the 18th century, such as Boucher, Watteau or Fragonard.
This was reflected in his pictorial work; He painted elegant women wrapped in mystery on some occasions in others, as in the work of "Café Place Blanche" he painted very young and candid young ladies who transmitted that joy of youth. These everyday scenes from the life of Paris were unique and much appreciated. He died in Paris in 1950.
