About the Item

His famous subject of the 'Barges by the Dock,'' along with other Paris scenes, compliment his romantic renderings of the South of France. The harbors of Nice, St. Tropez, Villefranche, together with his idyllic scenes of Eze, are only part of his repertoire.
Lucien Delarue was born on November 10th, 1925 in Paris. He studied at the studios of Grande Chaumiere, Paris as a pupil of Maitre Yves Brayer and began taking part in exhibitions very early in his career, winning first prize and the Vermeil-Medaille at the Salon Violet. Delarue also received a gold medal at the Salon of Vincennes, a gold medal at the Salon of Clichy in 1973, a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1974 and a bronze medal at the "Arts-Sciences-Lettres" exhibition in Paris.
