About the Item

Marla Korr attended Brooklyn College, earning both a B.A. and a M.F.A. There she studied with Philip Pearlstein, Lennart Anderson and Jimmy Ernst. She has also studied at Stevenson Academy of Traditional Painting and New York Academy of Art. Marla is a member of the National Artists League and Marine Artists of America As a full time artist, Marla Korr concentrates her vision on the rich landscapes of the Hudson River Valley, as well as the marine images and changing atmosphere of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Her natural ability and classical training enable her to express the subtle changes in light and atmosphere producing paintings which are sensitive and powerful. Being influenced by both Classical Realism and Impressionism, her paintings combine a range of feelings with technical excellence and craftsmanship. Marla also teaches a group of students, imparting to them the knowledge and methods she has practiced and the importance of integrity in art.
