About the Item

Mary Chaplin Rose Time at Monet’s garden [2021] Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Mary Chaplin Rose Time at Monet's garden The garden of Claude Monet is one of Mary Chaplin’s favourite gardens that she visits regularly at different periods of the year. This garden is like a constant changing tapestry of colour, movement and scents, a wonderful landscape. She specially loves the paths, they are narrow and give the feeling of being bathed in flowers , being a part of the garden itsself. To express this beauty she likes painting in a more figurative way to take the viewer on an impressionistic voyage. Lots of ‘her gardens’ are already in private collections in several countries around the world. The painting is not framed but ready to be hung. A small format that brings a lot of effect in a room! Mary Chaplin is a professional artist who gets a lot of inspiration from her garden. Between impressionism and abstraction, her work gives the subtle atmosphere of a summer’s day during the ‘rose time’, using large brush strokes and bold colors. This painting is a very energetic piece of work , you can feel the artist’s happiness and her love of Nature. Mary Chaplin paintings available with Wychwood Art. Mary Chaplin is a French artist and lives and works in Wailly, a picturesque hamlet surrounded by ponds, rivers and woods, in the North of France. Mary Chaplin for more than twenty years has worked as a self-taught professional artist, always inspired by nature and by the varying effects of light. She started her career by painting figurative scenes she saw around her in the French countryside. Her first artworks were representations of landscapes, gardens, forests, rivers or lakes, which allowed her to explore different techniques, including pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolour. However, both her life and career reached a turning point in 2005 when she witnessed the ‘holy light’ in a chapel she was visiting; she was deeply touched and inspired by the beauty of the reflections coming from the stained-glass windows, and thus she started painting them, calling them her ‘reflections’, or, in French, ‘méditations’. After that experience in the chapel, her will to convey the ephemeral nature of the light she captures, and its soothing warmth, became stronger. This new artistic birth enabled her to follow new paths in which she explores light’s numerous and ever changing facets. This deeply influenced her artistic style and work as it gave them a new dimension, shifting from a figurative representation of light in landscapes and still life to an abstract and more personal and metaphorical interpretation and appropriation of light’s fugacity. Since her beginnings, artist and painter Mary Chaplin’s work has been published in several article in the press and in specialized art magazines. It also has been broadcasted on television and is regularly exhibited in festivals dedicated to sacred art as well as in art galleries throughout different countries, including France, Belgium and England. original signed by the artist acrylic Image size: H:55,5 cm x W:46,5 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:55,5 cm x W:46,5 cm x D:2,5cm Sold Unframed

  • Bluebells Woods 1, Impressionist Landscape Artwork, Original Floral Painting
    By Rosemary Farrer
    Located in Deddington, GB
Bluebell woods 1 is an original painting by Rosemary Farrer. At this time of year I head for the woods to paint the bluebells. The colours are very hard to capture, not quite purple, not quite blue, photographs don't quite do them justice. This is where a painting has an advantage over a photograph, a combination of cooler blues and warmer purples, side by side, mix optically and create a shimmering field of colour, flecks of lime green from the new beech leaves provide the perfect foil. Rosemary Farrer, artists and printmaker sells with Wychwood Art online and in our art gallery in Oxfordshire. Rosemary paints in oils and also makes original prints. The prints are in no way copies of the paintings, they are conceived of, and made, as a response to the special and wonderful effects that can be achieved only through the various techniques of printmaking, whether it be the graphic, dynamic marks of a linocut, or the subtle tones and textures achievable in aquatint and etching. Design, composition and the use of colour are what excite her. She spends a lot of time drawing and painting outside, back in the studio, she will distil these ideas into strong graphic woodcuts, and linos or subtly textured etchings. Recent monotypes draw together the threads of her different media, with their graphic shapes and rich painterly colours. She studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art and The Ruskin School of Drawing, and learned printmaking at Morley College [London]. She has exhibited prints...
