ARTIST: Mary Jackson NEAC RWS (1946-) British TITLE: "Walkers At The Seven Sisters Sussex Coast England" SIGNED: initalled lower left MEDIUM: oil on board SIZE: 41cm x 37cm inc frame CONDITION: excellent DETAIL: Painter, born in Sussex. She studied as a mature student at Southampton College of Art and part-time at Winchester College of Art. Won a number of prizes, including the Thomas Agnew, Brandler and Patterson Prizes, and New English Critics’ Prize in 1990, three years after she was elected a member of New English Arts Club (NEAC). Also showed at RA, RWA and Kingfisher Gallery during 1990 Edinburgh Festival. She shared shows at Theatre Royal in Winchester, Hallam Gallery and Waterman Fine Art Ltd in 1991, later solo exhibitions including Crossgate Gallery, Kentucky, 1994. Was painter-in-residence at Glyndebourne for the opera festival in 1991–3, completing a project with English National Opera, 1994–5. Travelled in India and Australia to paint. National Trust holds her work.Lived in Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire.
