About the Item
The Duke of Buccleuch’s hunt was founded in 1827 and was once a famous event in Scotland but has now since died down because of the fox hunting bans around the area. Now the hunt has became a “drag hunt” where there are artificial trails laid out for the hounds to follow. During the hunting season the hunt meets twice a week and it is the largest hunt in Scotland spanning over the counties of, Berwickshire, Roxburghshire and Selkirkshire. Lyne does an excellent job in depicting the hunt, as he is most known for his hunting paintings.
