A panoramic view of a marsh landscape, bathed in a glowing rose-tinged sunset. "Late in the day as the brilliant green grasses dim, our attention moves up to the magical display in the sky," says artist Nancy Hughes Miller. "I find inspiration for my coastal paintings in the quiet of the evening. This moment is nature's gift to us and our busy world."
About the Artist
Reflected in Nancy Hughes Miller’s paintings are the coastal and rural environments of southeastern North Carolina, her birthplace, where she still spends much of her time. As a child, Nancy’s primary education did not include art classes, so she was delighted when one day her oldest brother returned home from college with newsprint and charcoal. She went on to pursue a career path in graphic design and fine arts. Now a full-time artist, Nancy experiments with vibrant colors and fluid forms to create her non-traditional, painterly landscapes. She enjoys working with oils, a medium that dries slowly and lends itself nicely to blending. Nancy strives to produce artwork that is, according to her, “quiet, yet bold.”
