Natalie lives in South West London near Wimbledon and paints in mixed media, watercolour and oil. She has always drawn and painted since childhood, but decided to study art history at university instead of art school. Following a painting holiday in 2011, she took up painting seriously again and started exhibiting professionally in 2018. Although mainly self-taught, she has gone on numerous courses and painting holidays where she has learnt from many experienced teachers. Natalie gains her inspiration from being outdoors in nature and from the changing seasons. Her wish is to paint expressive, atmospheric landscapes and seascapes. She is interested in how paint, colour, texture and mark-making can suggest and express, allowing the imagination to interpret a moment or scene. Exhibitions: In recent years she has exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the New English Art Club, the RBA and the Threadneedle Exhibition. In 2011 she exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition. She exhibited with the Chelsea Art Society in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 she had a painting accepted for the online ING Discerning Eye exhibition, selected by David Remfry RA. In 2021 she had a painting accepted for the RBA at the Mall Galleries.

Colours and insects inhabit the garden and then in the creative mind of the artist, the flowers become butterflies of colours. This is why the artist pushes the boundaries of figurative representation and paints the wind, the buzz of insects and the smells of flowers and earth. You are not buying an object, a painting, but a little piece of Nature. Poppies, wind, perfumes, birdsong and insects humming: Life! • WAXING POETIC. encaustic landscape painting
    By Sylvia Torres
    Located in Palm Desert, CA
Waxing Poetic is an expression of lyrical Earthly beauty and serenity. Its title has the double meaning of both growing aesthetically and a nod to the painting medium used to create it, encaustic. This landscape draws on deep emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way, pleasing both the senses and the mind. It has a deeply felt beauty, and a calm oasis of serenities. Bands of gold tether the gentle blue heavens to the fertile soil of mother earth. The high notes and the low notes of color whisper to the senses, just as nature skillfully and poetically stirs the imagination and weaves tranquility together with a vibrant yet bold intimacy. Sylvia Torres, was born in California, one will find the ocean, sky and mountains reflected in her work. She also spent several years in Texas, where she attended the University of Houston, studied commercial art and became the Art Director at several advertising agencies.
