The first moments of a budding spring season, with clearing blue skies and hints of green returning to the landscape. "Everything is slowly coming back to life as the trees are bearing new leaves," says artist Nikolay Rizhankov, "and a heron is enjoying the warm spring air."
About the Artist
Nikolay Rizhankov was born in Moscow, Russia and lived in Armenia for most of his life. He studied fine art and Russian classical painting at the National University of Art in Moscow and graduated with a Masters in Fine Art in 1989. In 2013, he relocated to Denver, Colorado. - Distant Shore, Oil PaintingBy Heidi HyblLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Abstracted, minimal view of the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The painting captures the motion of the rolling waves and a warm, tonal sunset. Rich green, blues, muted yellow and touches of red along the edges bring the scene to life.About the Artist
Artist Heidi Hybl starts each day listening to the birds sing in the canyon near her home in Big Sur. Then, she makes a cup of tea, reviews the previous day’s work, turns on her podcasts and starts. She paints in a small studio that is separate from her house, and works on several pieces at a time within what she would call “organized chaos.” She also takes time to tend her flowers, vegetables, chickens and goats. A former medical professional, Heidi worked for several years with laser machines, developing a knowledge and a fascination with the color spectrum and light. Living in Big Sur offers inspiration in the ever-changing atmospheric conditions that arise when hills, canyons, and ocean meet. She then reduces these elements to an abstract experience on canvas in a color palette derived from her surroundings: sunsets and storms, fire and fog.Words that describe this painting: abstract, seascape, minimal, ocean, coast, seascape, minimalism, non-representational, oil painting, green
