Peter Coulthard was brought up in the Pennine countryside and his outdoor working life have given him a deep knowledge and understanding of nature and the elements, and his paintings show high levels of technical ability, skill and quality. These qualities, together with his clever use of light, his draughtsmanship skills, a keen eye for detail and a fine sense of atmosphere combine to create a standard of work of the very highest calibre. He paints in oils on canvas and his dramatic landscapes usually feature his favourite Lake District scenes.
