Peter Hamlin
Rabbit Hole Singularity, Bunny, Flowers, Pink, Teal Surreal Botanical Landscape

2023

About the Item

A futuristic rabbit hybrid is the focus of this fantastical landscape in acrylic ink on canvas by Peter Hamlin. The rabbit is whimsical and surreal, held in the center of a flower. More imagined botany surrounds the animal, thriving in its pink and teal blue green habitat. Signed, dated and titled on verso. This series is in part inspired by blurring boundaries between nature and technology. The monochromatic palette draws from traditional ceramic and applied arts patterns and narrative forms. The paintings are coated with a special Golden Paint UV filter and a matte medium which imparts a subtle kind of porcelain feel. The price for framing is separate, please inquire with the gallery. Envisioning a future in which technology is indistinguishable from life, Peter Hamlin blends fantasy and science in compositions that breathe with awareness and futuristic hybridity in vibrant color, synthetic layers and meticulous, delineated systems. In Hamlin’s imagined environments, nanopeople, robots, cyborg plants and curious otherworldly organisms coexist. The artist’s work explores how we adapt as a species, determine our future and prepare for what’s to come as technologies radically change how humans experience and interact with the world. The precision and exactitude with which Hamlin paints seduces the viewer with beauty and beckons one into his supernatural world. The artist was awarded an MFA in Painting at Lehman College, Bronx, NY and a BFA in Illustration from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Hamlin lives and works in Brooklyn.

  • Dappled Forest, Pointillist Forest Landscape, Green Leaves, Brown Trees, Woods
    Located in Kent, CT
In this pointillist landscape, a forest scene with trees in woods is carefully painted in colorful dots in acrylic and gouache on Duralar mounted on panel. Signed and dated on verso. Kirstin Lamb’s gridded, meticulously detailed paintings on transparent acetate are labor-intensive paintings of labor-intensive textiles and patterns. To create these embroidery paintings, Lamb starts by generating a digitized grid and painstakingly painting each individual gridded stitch by hand using acrylic and gouache on a wet media acetate. The process creates a one-to-one relationship of mark to stitch, the act of each brushstroke serving for the stitch of a needle. Lamb’s embroidery paintings draw patterns from French floral wallpaper of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, while others draw inspiration from vintage embroidery...

  • Marsh Bend
    By Dana Coleman
    Located in Charelston, SC
Dana Coleman is a contemporary Gullah artist who captures the dynamic, awe-inspiring beauty of the Lowcountry in each of his paintings. His realistic depictions of his Gullah heritage, lowcountry lifestyle, architecture and landscapes draw in the viewer, creating a one-on-one experience that lasts a lifetime. He uses natural and bright colors to execute his contrasting and harmonious work. After earning an associate degree in graphic design at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina, Dana studied civil engineering at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he refined his innate ability to recognize and execute the fine detail that can be found in his paintings. Dana, who has earned several awards for his artistic talent, always has believed that “You can paint anything you set your mind to.” His artwork captures the most vivid and fond memories he has collected since his childhood “in the country,” just outside of Charleston. He shares those experiences with viewers so they can enjoy the diverse and vibrant culture that is unique to Charleston. His architectural background has helped Dana reproduce the history and beauty found in the Charleston area, from its weathered houses and structures to its beautiful beaches and marshland. With an ever-changing palette, Dana paints with various techniques, depending on the subject matter – and his emotional attachment to the subject matter. Applying paint with purpose and patience, he applies the strengths of each specific medium to achieve smooth, rich surfaces and crystal clear, vibrant hues. Dana’s artwork can be found in numerous private art collections around the world and has been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His work is a permanent fixture at the Sierra Leone National Museum and the Fort Sumter...
