Red poppies are a delight to see. The color and vibrancy glows with a zest for life. This painting was done with brushes and much palette knife work particularly in the flowers. Viewing this painting is an adventure from afar and up close. It was a joy to paint.
About the Artist
After painting for years out of the family room of his home, Robert took the plunge and built an addition to his home for proper studio space. He works in two very different styles, producing both color-blocked abstracts and realist landscapes. Robert begins each painting by creating a thumbnail value sketch to establish a composition. Each piece reflects his mood, but whether energetic or placid, the colors must always be harmonious. Robert’s technique uses mostly brushes with the occasional addition of palette knives to create subtle surface texture.
