Rosemary Farrer Flowering Trees Original Impressionist Landscape Painting Acrylic Paint on Canvas Canvas Size: H 60cm x W 60cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are merely an indication of how a piece may look. Flowering trees is an original acrylic painting on canvas by Rosemary Farrer. ‘My process always starts with a quite detailed drawing with a lot of information about tone and form. For this painting I spent several mornings drawing this lovely group of flowering trees and shrubs. Back in the studio I put down fairly abstract washes of bright, transparent colour before gradually adding form in more opaque layers. The painting is about the shimmer, sparkle and soft colours of new growth in spring.’ Rosemary Farrer, artists and printmaker sells with us online and in our art gallery in Stow-on-the-Wold. Rosemary paints in oils and also makes original prints. The prints are in no way copies of the paintings, they are conceived of, and made, as a response to the special and wonderful effects that can be achieved only through the various techniques of printmaking, whether it be the graphic, dynamic marks of a linocut, or the subtle tones and textures achievable in aquatint and etching. Design, composition and the use of colour are what excite her. She spends a lot of time drawing and painting outside, back in the studio, she will distil these ideas into strong graphic woodcuts, and linos or subtly textured etchings. Recent monotypes draw together the threads of her different media, with their graphic shapes and rich painterly colours. She studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art and The Ruskin School of Drawing, and learned printmaking at Morley College [London]. She has exhibited prints and paintings at many galleries both in Britain and Europe, as well as, several times, at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
