The Last Hay Bale is an original painting by Sarah Russell. It is an expressionistic landscape evoking the last of the harvest, end of Summer and beginning of Autumn. Float mounted, white tray frame or cradle frame, 43cm x 33cm. Loose semi abstract work from drawings done en plein air.
Sarah’s work is intuitive and emotional, often triggered by the weather or a view and about her response to that moment in time A monotype is a one off, hand pulled print. After inking up the plate Sarah uses various reductive techniques to create the individual textures and marks. Building layers and creating patterns are key elements to Sarah’s work, both in printmaking and painting. Sarah gained her BA (Hons) at Bristol before moving back to the more familiar landscape of Bedfordshire. Photography became her focus when a busy family life took most of her time. Since getting back to the studio Sarah has mainly been printmaking, and developing her interest in painting working with the Leighton Buzzard Artists and in her own studio in Leighton Buzzard. “I find landscape endlessly inspiring….the gentle details of Bedfordshire and East Anglia as well as the raw energy of the Cornish coast. I enjoy the immediacy of printmaking, especially monoprinting. My work is often based on remembered emotions or a response to a particular scene, and can start with something as simple as a colour combination. I like to keep it ambiguous, it allows people to keep seeing something new….and everyone sees something different.”

- The Way Home To You, Forest Artworks, Green Contemporary Landscape PantingBy Adele RileyLocated in Deddington, GBAdele Riley is a British contemporary land and seascape artist working primarily in acrylic and acrylic inks. Her artistic process usually begins with a loose idea of what she wants to create. She strives to capture the emotional content of the subject, letting the inks create a type of chaos by doing what they naturally want to do. ‘This is an exciting part of the process,’ says Adele, ‘As it always reveals something magical, letting me know what I should do or how I should react next.’ Adele is fascinated by light and colour, believing people connect to colour just as much as to the subject matter. People are drawn to different energies in different colours, and she loves to play with this theory in her work. She often starts her paintings ‘plein air’, sometimes in local forests or on the beaches of Cornwall and Devon, but her passion is to paint intuitively, recalling the light, atmosphere, sounds and feel of a scene. ‘My aim is to capture the essence of a place rather than produce a literal interpretation. I want to create a personal and emotional narrative between my work and the viewer.’ ‘With light there is always colour. I constantly chase light...Category
