Late Summer and Hideaway are original works by Sophie Berger. Sophie often sketches on the north moors and in Skaigh woods, taking in the mood of the sky, rolling hills and streams or concentrating on the intricate twisted branches and roots of the bracken. Sophie Berger’s next stage is to recapture these sketches using mixed medias such as wax and resin when back at the studio in Dartmoor. This creates a strong connection between her work and the landscape. The changeable, moody landscapes awash with colour, horizons and the vast openness have inspired Sophie Berger to explore the feeling of being in this environment.
