Entitled "Five Lands", this landscape rich in matter on canvas depicts some colorful houses half hidden at the intersection of the blue rock-mountains and the grey coast, whth others among trees where the high mountains and the sky meet. This art piece by Lionel Tison is a remembrance of his visit on the coast of Five Lands in Italy. The exquisite composition, the use of colors such as white, yellow, pink and green in blue and gray with dashes of red, together with the special matter-sculpture technique on canvas, as if vividly demonstrating the real stone texture of the coast, etc... Each of these aspects contributes to the successful transmission of the pleasant visit-experience and wonderful feeling from the artist to the viewers.
Lionel Tison is a French painter. His paintings on canvas are, more accurately speaking, paintings on matter pre-deposited on canvas and sculptured. In this unique way of "sculpting and painting", the artist accomplishes the expression of his feelings of a certain aestheticism, as well as the delivery of his emotions. As the artist stated: "I express myself in painting, and I put words to the knife and punctuate with the brush".
