About the Item

Up for sale gorgeous original Nautical oil painting on canvas, signed by the mysterious Artist "T. Bailey" (American, 19th/20th). The painting depicts a nautical scene, depicts "California Clipper" (Built in 1860). A classic dramatic and turbulent scene with the ship battling against the forces of nature. The waves are high and rough, with whitecaps and foam visible on the water's surface. There are some notes on verso. Framed in a nice wood golden frame. Signed in a lower right corner T.Bailey. Condition: Good. According to information from different sources, T. Bailey did not exist but was a pseudonym of several artists from the Massachusetts communities around Cape Ann. One of these Artists was William F.Paskell (British-American 1866-1951). This truly is a unique and intriguing piece of art you will enjoy having in your collection. Jules Van Biesbroeck was the son of Jules Evariste van Biesbroeck, a painter of Ghent, but was born in Italy, in Portici, near Naples, while his parents were staying there.
