About the Item
A wonderful 19th century street scene depicting St George's Church in Beckenham. The church was originally built in the twelfth century and survived as a humble medieval church until it was rebuilt between 1885 and 1887. This painting was completed before its refurbishment. Two small children play outside the church and an old gentleman rests beneath the Lych gate. Well presented in a gilt effect frame. There is a handwritten label to the reverse with a Charles Roberson & Co label also attached. Signed and dated. On panel.
